Menopause is the cessation of menstruation due to failing of ovarian function when woman's reproductive function gradually diminishes and disappears. Occurs usually at the age of 50.
Artificial menopause may occur after ovarian surgery or radiation involving the ovaries.
Signs :
- menstrual flow gradually diminishes and then ceases
- dryness of the vagina
- itching and burning sensation
- thinning of the pubic hair
- loss of labia minora
- decreased of lubrication
- decreased intensity of sexual response
- "hot flash" anxious feeling ,
- sweating irregularly
- involvement of bone condition like osteoporosis
- psychological effect like anxiety, irritability , insomnia, fear or may be depression
A better health after menopause to those woman who suffered pain during menstruation.
Management:
avoid stress, overfatigue, environmental problems
nutritious diet and avoid overweight
avoid anxiety by participating in outside activities
annual physical examination to ensure continuing good health
