- it is an infection of the endometrium and the genitalia after delivery caused by bacterial organisms
- ruptured membrane
- prolonged labor
- acquired through poor aseptic vaginal examination
- from infection of the other part of the body
- poor perennial hygiene
- fever
- chilliness
- foul discharge from the genitalia
